Keep a Copy
Keep a copy
Of everything you find around;
Who is there but us
To decide what truly matters?
This one habit brings no harm;
Unless for those who practice racket,
Since this habit makes you armed
With a chest, quite heavy,
That will always stand a lie.
So keep the copies safe and sound
From time and those who'll claim the truth;
And send your friend a copy, too.
Keep a copy under your bed,
In ones and zeroes, dots and specks.
It always matters in these moments
When the original is gone,
And what was left is owned and sold;
Left mutilated.
Maybe your copy will bring the light?
Preserve the shards
Of what has yet to be restored,
And do a check-up on your backup
During rain and sleet and snow.
Keep a copy
For those who'll keep on after you,
And they will keep their copies, too.
